Dermalogica Phyto Nature Oxygen Cream Review

Today, let’s take a close look at the Dermalogica Phyto Nature Oxygen Cream. Touted for its innovative fusion of botanical ingredients and oxygenating technology, this cream claims to address signs of aging and improve skin hydration.

But how does it really perform? I’ll examine its texture, ingredients, and the results it delivers, providing an honest and thorough assessment. If you're curious about the true efficacy of this product and whether it's a fit for your skincare needs, you've come to the right place. Let's dive into my review of the Phyto Nature Oxygen Cream.

Dermalogica Moisturisers: Best of the Best

No skincare review about a Dermalogica product would be complete without acknowledging how amazing the brand is overall! The core philosophy of Dermalogica revolves around personalisation and education - something that’s pretty much bang-on with our ethos at Beauty Affairs!

The brand's ethos was built around education, with a strong emphasis on empowering both skincare professionals and consumers with knowledge. This foundation paved the way for Dermalogica to emerge as a leader in professional skincare - it’s no wonder that Dermalogica products are consistently among our best-sellers!

One that our team can’t wait for you to try is the Phyto Nature Oxygen Cream. This anti-ageing, lightweight cream is ideal for all skin types and is meant to support well-ageing thanks to natural botanical ingredients - here’s what I think of this Dermalogica moisturiser!

Dermalogica Phyto Nature Oxygen Cream Review

I have pretty high expectations when it comes to all Dermalogica skincare products - this is an iconic brand that delivers exceptional results in-spa and at-home, and every new launch has huge shoes to fill! Priced at AUD $199, this is definitely an investment for your skin.

According to the brand, this is light moisturising cream that can be used by all skin types. The main benefits it’s supposed to bring to skin are to firm, lift and revitalise thanks to a specific blend of plant-based extracts: Ligustrum lucidum, Nasturtium, Astralagus, and Luffa.

The main claim of the Dermalogica Phyto Nature Oxygen Cream is that it boosts the skin’s oxygen absorption, leading to visibility smoother and more hydrated skin. That’s an interesting claim and not really one that I’ve heard before, but checking out the ingredients list there are definitely plenty of hydrating and moisturising ingredients including Squalane, Hyaluronic Acid and Jojoba Oil.

I would say that this moisturiser is probably for those who want something that has some anti-ageing perks, but won’t be carrying the most weight when it comes to dealing with premature signs of ageing.

Texture & Application

Dermalogica Phyto Nature Oxygen Cream holds true to Dermalogica DNA by smelling amazing - it’s almost love at first pump. It definitely smells like a spa experience, which I think really elevates any skincare routine. Plus, the glass packaging and pump make for a luxe, but straightforward experience.

Because it’s labelled as a cream, I was surprised by how relatively thin the texture is. It isn’t runny by any means, but I definitely imagine more of a thick, La Mer Cream texture when something’s described as a cream. I expected this to be more of a nighttime cream, but I think it’s light enough to be used day and night for most skin types.

I think it layers well over other skincare and underneath sunscreen. If anything, oilier skin types may want to skip this one for daytime as it has a fair amount of natural oils in it that could contribute to a shiny (rather than dewy) look.

Performance & Efficacy

So, did I find that the Dermalogica Phyto Nature Oxygen Cream met its claims? This daytime moisturiser definitely helps to smooth skin and works well alongside a skincare routine, but on it’s own I wouldn’t say that it dramatically helped to improve the appearance of my skin.

It’s definitely a very complimentary product to a routine that’s packed with actives to address your specific skincare concerns, though.

I wouldn’t hesitate to use this if you already have retinol or glycolic acid in your skincare routine, and are looking for a moisturiser that has a little more punch than the rest. The antioxidants in this cream certainly help to protect skin from external stressors, while the blend of Shea Butter, Jojoba Oil, and Squalane make sure your moisture barrier is intact for glowing, healthy skin.

Dermalogica Phyto Nature Oxygen Cream vs other Dermalogica Moisturisers

So, where does this sit when compared to other Dermalogica moisturisers? Every Dermalogica line has a slightly different focus - so here’s how the Oxygen Cream stacks up to other products and a quick explanation on who it’s best for!

Dermalogica Phyto Nature Oxygen Cream vs Dermalogica Stabilizing Repair Cream

Dermalogica Stabilizing Repair Cream has a formula that’s specifically for helping compromised, stressed, and irritated skin return to normal. It also has a thicker texture that’s ideal for more dry skin. Most importantly, its formula is fragrance-free as it’s targeted for sensitive and redness-prone skin. The Oxygen Cream is fragranced and does not have the rich, replenishing texture of the Repair Cream to support healthy skin.

If your focus is well-ageing and you’re not dealing with much sensitivity, choose the Oxygen Cream. If your skin is prone to redness & irritation, go with the Stabilizing Cream.

Dermalogica Phyto Nature Oxygen Cream vs Dermalogica Powerbright Overnight Cream

Another highly recommended Dermalogica moisturiser is the Powerbright Overnight Cream. This formula is ideal for addressing concerns on skin such as post-acne marks and hyperpigmentation. That’s because Powerbright Overnight Cream formula contains Niacinamide and a form of Vitamin C to address dark spots on skin.

Compared to the Dermalogica Phyto Nature Oxygen Cream, it’s the better choice for those looking to even out their skin tone. The oxygen cream’s main focus is to boost moisture with a little sprinkle of anti-ageing; it doesn’t have ingredients to target the appearance of dark spots and pigmentation

If your focus is on lightening up uneven patches of skin, go for the Dermalogica Powerbright Overnight Cream. If you’re looking for steady moisture with a touch of anti-ageing, choose Dermalogica Phyto Nature Oxygen Cream.

Key Points

This is a moisturiser that helps to soothe dryness and lend some anti-ageing benefits. It’s something that’s perfect for following your retinol serum with to make sure your skin doesn’t feel dry or tight. The light lotion formula is ideal for most skin types - the only suggestion I make for oily skin is to skip this for daytime, but use it at night. Dermalogica Oxygen Cream is a great addition to any skincare routine!
