How To Spend Easter With Loved Ones While Self-Isolating

With everything happening in the world right now, how would you feel if I told you that you could spend a nice Easter Sunday with your family even if you’re not in the same house? It seems unconventional but we’ve got the perfect Easter Sunday plan for the entire family while self-isolating.

Just follow these 4 steps to enjoy time with your loved ones, have a few laughs and become the family favourite in everyone’s eyes.

1. Download a video app that everyone can use

The best way to share a moment together (without actually being together) is on the phone. Gone are the days where the landline cord was long enough to travel from the kitchen to the living room, now our smartphones are doing all the work allowing you to talk to more than one person at the same time all over the world.

We’ve put a list together of apps you can use on your smartphone, tablet or computer. All you need is a good* internet connection (*NBN included in the list, unfortunately)

Zoom:
A video conferencing app, primarily used for business but is just as good for anyone to connect on any device. Free for 40 minutes at a time.
Download Here: Zoom Website //  Apple Store // Google Play Apps
House party:
Group video chat to help you and your friends be together when you're not together. Free and has the ability to play games at the same time.
Download Here: Apple store // Google Play Apps
Hangouts:
Similar to Zoom where you can hang out with your family on a Google Hangout call, It is free but requires everyone to have a Gmail account setup and invited.
Connect Here: Setup Gmail Account //  Connect To Hangouts

These apps are great to make you feel like you’re in the same room, laugh together and spend a good family moment from all over the world.

2. Set up the perfect time for everyone to join

It’s important to take into account that some families are early risers when others prefer to get-up late. Pick a time all together at least one day before to be sure that everyone will be free. If you’re not all living in the same city or country, be careful with the time difference. If you want some help planning the family reunion, you can use Timeanddate.com to see what time it is in all the cities compared to yours so no one has to stay awake late at night or get up too early in the morning.

3. Share something better than chocolate

Just because you’re chatting away on video doesn’t mean you can’t have a meal or drink together (I mean it’s 5 O’clock somewhere!) It creates a warmer and more relaxed atmosphere and feels just like everyone is in the same room.

If you want to up the ante you can also have some fun playing games with the family. The app Houseparty has some already mentioned, but another good one to check out also is Plato (Apple store / Google Play Store) which offers a lot more games to play with your friends or family.

If you’re like us we love to usually spend time reminiscing and looking back at memories and photos. Something hard to do when everyone is not together, you can set up an account with this amazing app 23snaps (Apple Store / Google Play Store). It’s a family album where you can save all your good moments online and share them with the most important people in your life. It’s the perfect app for parents or grandparents to collect and share pictures from all the special moments in their life. Everyone can share pictures or videos and you can also print your favourite ones.

4. [BONUS] How to become the family favourite

It wouldn’t feel like Easter without a little gift-giving for your loved ones. While we can only hope someone might send us a few Lindt bunnies, it doesn’t mean you can’t send something to the ones you love. I’m sure people are always happy to receive a good chocolate box or a nice bouquet. Flowers for everyone send really nice bouquets and Gourmet Basket has a lot of different food options to send. If it’s a bit too late to order and receive before Easter, you can also offer them a Gift Card for something they love. Prezzee is a great one with a lot of offers, or if you’re looking for a way to treat yourself get your own  GiftCard from BeautyAffairs. The perfect way to let them choose their favourite cosmetics!

We hope that everyone has the chance to connect with someone special during this tough time. Stay safe and Happy Easter to you from all of us at Beauty Affairs.
