Murad Nutrient Charged Water-Gel Review

It’s no secret that Murad creates some of the best skincare products! The Murad philosophy is that your skincare routine should look like a rainbow, using products from each of the colour-coded ranges to create a skincare routine that’s uniquely yours.

That’s why Murad skincare is among the most popular worldwide - and why we stock this effective, clinically-proven brand.

Murad Nutrient-Charged Water-Gel was my product of choice to try from Murad, you can see that it’s from the purple Hydration line of products. It’s the only gel moisturiser in this range, and as someone with oily skin, it was at the top of my list to try!

Here’s my breakdown of this best-selling Murad product, what it claims to do, and what I thought of it.

What Is The Murad Nutrient-Charged Water Gel?

This is an oil-free moisturiser that’s technically ideal for all skin types, but I can see those with combination or oily skin enjoying this gel texture the most. According to Murad, the three concerns that this water gel moisturiser addresses are:

  • Dull, dry complexion
  • Fine lines & wrinkles
  • Rough texture

Specifically, the Murad team has formulated the Nutrient-Charged Water Gel to work as incredible moisture barrier support. The moisture barrier, also known as the acid mantle, is an essential structure in the skin that helps to keep hydration in and external irritants out.

It’s something that all skin types need to be aware of since a damaged moisture barrier can lead to stubborn skin issues such as redness, irritation, and flaking skin. This moisturiser strengthens the skin barrier with an optimised blend of ingredients.

What Are The Ingredients In Murad Water Gel?

The unique formula is packed with good stuff for your skin. It’s created with 5 peptides, 5 vitamins and 5 minerals to lock moisture to your skin, preventing dryness and supporting a healthy moisture barrier. Here’s an explanation of all the goodies formulated into this ultra-hydrating, nurturing moisturiser.

Peptides

You may remember that what sets peptides apart from other skincare ingredients is that they instruct your skin cells how to behave. These peptides have been chosen because of the way they affect the skin. Namely, they’re a type of molecule called growth factors.

I know what you’re thinking - what on earth do these grow? What the heck is a growth factor?

Put simply, growth factors in this gel moisturiser are there to support healthy skin cells. In scientific terms, this is called increasing cell proliferation. Essentially, it’s a major boost in the number of skin cells, which leads to improved skin barrier function, among a few other skin benefits such as boosted collagen levels and improved skin healing.

Vitamins

Some of the vitamins in the Murad Water Gel such as Niacinamide and Vitamin B5, are already well-known for their benefits for the skin. Niacinamide is a fantastic all-rounder - it supports the moisture barrier, fades dark spots, and even minimises pores.

Pantothenic Acid (a form of Panthenol) is an effective humectant, attracting water to your skin. It calms irritation and improves moisture retention for healthy skin.

Vitamin B6, also called Pyridoxine, is one of the less well-known B vitamins. It’s superpower is to reduce inflammation and irritation in the skin, ensuring it stays healthy and glowing.

Folate, aka Vitamin B9, is more well-known as Folic Acid. This B vitamin isn’t just good as a supplement for hair and nails! When applied to the skin, it’s a superstar at maintaining a healthy moisture barrier and banishing dry skin.

Vitamin E is an amazing all-rounder skincare ingredient. This antioxidant helps to protect your skin from free radicals, harmful molecules that exert oxidative stress on the skin, leading to premature wrinkles.

Minerals

An underrated group of skincare ingredients, minerals can provide essential benefits to skin - which is why they’re formulated here.

Studies have found that silicon may be critical in the skin’s ability to create collagen, increasing elasticity and firmness. Iron supports wound healing, strengthening your skin against irritants and external stressors.

Zinc helps to form a protective barrier on your skin, helping it to hold onto essential hydration. Copper and magnesium both work to reduce inflammation, ensuring skin stays healthy and hydrated for longer.

Is Murad Nutrient-Charged Water Gel A Good Moisturiser?

Yes. It’s alcohol-free, so it doesn’t irritate the skin. It’s formulated with a blend of skincare ingredients such as Panthenol and Hyaluronic Acid to help maintain a healthy skin barrier, locking in hydration.

Does Murad Water Gel Have Hyaluronic Acid?

Yes! This oil-free moisturiser includes Hyaluronic Acid. This is an ultra-hydrating skincare ingredient that draws 1000x its weight in water to the skin, instantly plumping it with hydration and getting rid of dryness.

Because it’s formulated with Hyaluronic Acid, this moisturiser is ideal for all skin types - even dry.

Review of the Nutrient-Charged Water Gel

So, overall, did I like this moisturiser?

Yes!

I have oily skin, and in the warmer months, I prefer to use an oil-free gel moisturiser like this one. It sinks into my skin quickly and smells amazing - it was like going to the spa every time I used it. I thought the Murad Water Gel had a thicker texture than other gel moisturisers I’ve used before, which I enjoyed to the last drop.

To me, it really meets its claims of deeply hydrating skin and protecting my moisture barrier. In addition to the star groups of ingredients above, Murad Nutrient-Charged Gel also contains Ceramides, a group of ingredients that strengthen your moisture barrier and smooth skin.

I could feel how soothing and hydrating this moisturiser was every time I used it. Plus, since it was oil-free, it wore so nicely under sunscreen and makeup! This moisturiser is beauty editor-approved!

How to Use Murad Nutrient-Charged Water Gel

This is best used after using your serum and before sunscreen. You might find it fits better in your skincare routine as a daytime moisturiser only and use a separate night cream. Scoop out a chickpea or so-sized amount and massage into skin until fully absorbed to hydrate!
